Dasara at Durga temple: `2 cr for amenities
#BIG-IMAGE##Vijayawada: Durga Temple Trust Board on Saturday decided to conduct annual Dasara festivities in a grand manner. The Trust Board chairman Y Gauranga Babu, Executive Officer M Padma and other officials discussed the arrangements to be made for the Dasara festival and to develop infrastructure facilities.
Later, briefing the media, EO Padma said that the meeting decided to improve greenery on the Indrakeeladri hill, enhance lighting down the hill and improve the CC camera network near Maha Mandapam. The decision to strengthen CC camera network was taken in view of the missing of girl from the queue line recently.
The girl was later identified by the police and handed over to the parents. The Board meeting also decided to provide basic amenities at a cost of Rs 2 crore to the devotees visiting the temple during Dasara celebrations. The works will be awarded on tender basis. It is decided to urge the state government to bear theexpenditure as Dasara celebrations are state level festival. It is also decided to seek reimbursement for the expenditure incurred during last year.
On the request of devotees, a decision was taken to allow mini vans hereafter on to the Ghat road on payment of Rs.50 for each trip. During the holidays and auspicious occasions, the existing bus services are not sufficient to meet the rush of devotees. So, a decision was taken to allow mini vans.
