SI responsible for death of DYFI leader’s mom: CPM
Nellore: Communist Party of India (Marxist) Central Committee member V Srinivas Rao demanded that the district police should take action against the Sub-Inspector, who was responsible for mother’s death of a DYFI leader in Penuballi village a couple of days ago.
Interacting with the media at Dr Ramachandra Reddy Bhavan in the city here on Saturday, Srinivas informed that they are going to organise a massive rally seeking action against Sub-Inspector Prasad Reddy. The CPM leader stated a public meeting would be organised in Buchireddypalem village on July 23. He also alleged that there is no response from the district police officials till now after the incident.
Prasad Reddy beat up DYFI leader Madhava mercilessly in front of his mother Chinnamma, who had been ailing for some time, he said. Unable to bear tension, she died early in the morning, he said. CPM leader demanded that the State government should give ex gratia of Rs 25 lakh to the family members of the deceased besides action against the SI, said Srinivas. He asked why the SI had taken DYFI leader Madhava into custody.
He also alleged that state government had failed to provide employment to the unemployed youth within four years. The BJP-led NDA government had not granted special category status to Andhra Pradesh and also sops to the state which were mentioned in the AP Reorganisation Act, he added. CPM district secretary Chandra Rajagopal and rural secretary M Ramesh were also present.
