NREGS works: Collector expresses displeasure over slow progress

Kurnool: District Collector S Sathyanarayana held a review meeting on the progress of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) works in the district with the Assistant Project Director, APO and ECs at his camp office here on Sunday.

During the meeting, the Collector expressed displeasure over the poor progress in 10 mandals. He asked the concerned officials to explain the reasons for low labour budget in 10 mandals. Later he suggested them to enhance the present labour budget of Rs.1.04 lakhs to Rs.1.50 lakhs in Dhone, Orvakal, Dornipadu, Kurnool, Kallur, Midthur, Gospadu and Kosigi.

Giving a warning to the officials the Collector said that he will give three chances and if they are not corrected, then they will face suspension. He also directed them to complete the solid waste management units and play grounds at schools at the earliest.

Under Vanam-Manam programme,  he instructed them to take up plantation on both sides of the roads by digging pits. Plantation of teak trees be taken up on farm pond bunds, he said. .

He expressed anguish over the poor progress of work on Technical Assistant at Dhone. Complete the construction of individual latrines that are pending since long time, he directed the officials and asked them to reach the given target.

DWAMA Project Director, Venkata Subbaiah, Zilla Parishad CEO Vishweshwara Naidu, Additional Project Director Nageshwara Rao, MPDOs of 10 mandals, APDs, APOs, ECs and others participated in the review meeting.
