Corruption eats into mid-day meal scheme: Collector K Bhaskar

​Eluru: West Godavari District Collector K Bhaskar has warned officials of severe action if he notices any irregularities in the mid-day meal scheme.

Attending calls from people during Dial Your Collector programme held here on Monday, the Collector said that he would never spare anyone responsible for inadequate food supplied to the children.

One of the callers accused the organisers and teachers of taking food containers home, leaving the students to starve. Only leftovers were being served to the girls, the caller alleged.

He told the authorities to serve food in accordance with the menu and provide adequate quantity of food items to the children. He also directed the officials to provide quality food to the children as the government had been spending crores on the implementation of this scheme.
