Gold coins found in farm handed over to Prakasam district Collector

Ongole: Markapuram RDO Penchala Kishore handed over the 30 gold coins that were found in a farm in Prakasam district to the Collector, Vadarevu Vinay Chand in the CPO Hall at Collectorate here on Monday.

On July 20, a farmer Eddula Satyanarayana Reddy and his worker of Sanikavaram village in Peddaraveedu mandal found a brass vessel in his farm. The vessel contains gold coins dating back to centuries of time. 

As the news spread out, the revenue and police officials seized the vessel and coins from the possession of the farmer and announced that they are 30 gold coins, called Varahalu in the Krishnadeva Rayalu time.

The Peddaraveedu tahsildar, B Dileep Kumar and Markapuram RDO Penchala Kishore presented those 30 gold coins of weight 103 grams before the District Collector Vinay Chand and handed over the coins to him. The Collector then ordered the district revenue officer V Venkata Subbaiah for their safe custody.
