Saplings planted at Guntur Mirchi Yard

Guntur: Guntur Mirchi Yard chairman Mannava Subba Rao planted saplings on the premises of Guntur Mirchi Yard under Vanam- Manam programme on Monday.

Speaking on this occasion, Mannva Subba Rao said that there was need to increase green cover in the state. He said at present forest coverage in the state was 23 per cent. The government wants to increase greenery percentage to 50 per cent by 2029 in the state. 

He reminded that steps taken by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to increase forest cover in the state. He said that the government decided to plant 25 lakh saplings in the state during this season and stressed on need to protect the planted saplings.  

Director of Agriculture, Marketing department Ramanjaneyulu stressed on need to protect planted saplings and appreciated the idea of Mannava Subba Rao to take up saplings plantation every Saturday.
Later, they planted saplings on the market yard premises.
