Atmakur: Sangameshwara temple main priest Telakapalli Raghurama Sarma on Monday performed kalash puja decorating the gopuram of the sanctum-sanctorum with a Nagabharanam as the Krishna river floods the temple located on the bank of confluence of seven rivers.

The temple priest and other Vedic scholars gave aarti to the river in spate as part of a ritual. On account of the floods only the Rajagopuram and gopurams of other ancillary temples in the temple compound are seen. The flood level in River Krishna is on the rise each hour with the influx of water from the upper reaches of the river in Maharashtra and Karnataka.

On account of the auspicious Tithi of Ekadasi special pujas were performed at the temple. Several devotees, who are on fast on account of the Ekadasi, took a holy dip in the river and took part in Sangameshwara Kalyanam. To mark the occasion, yagas and homams were performed.
