Truck operators strike continues for fourth day

Vijayawada: Truck operators strike continued in the state on the fourth day on Monday demanding the Union government to concede their demands. Over three lakh trucks across the Andhra Pradesh went off the roads for the fourth day. 

In Vijayawada, wholesale trading activity in One Town and GollapudiMarket Yard was affected due to the impact of nation-wide truckers strike which began on July 20.

Meanwhile, there is no impact on the supply of vegetables and flowers to Vijayawada city. Traders at the wholesale Rajiv Gandhi Vegetable Market saidon Tuesday, ``There was no impact of strike on vegetables so far. Mini trucks are transporting vegetables to the market. Similarly, vegetable supplies to RytuBazaars in the city are also continuing as usual.

AP Lorry Owners Association General Secretary Y V Eswara Rao, in a statement on Monday, made it clear that the strike is continuing in the state. He said a video was uploaded in YouTube giving false information about the calling off the strike by truckers. He said the strike will continue for two or three more days. He appealed to the truck operators not to believe such false propaganda.
