Vasudeva Rao elected as state bar council member

Srikakulam: For the first time, Gedela Vasudeva Rao, an advocate from Srikakulam, has been elected as state bar council member. A total 107 members contested across the state for 25-member posts, for which polling was held on June 29.

The counting of votes continued till July 23 from July 11 as preferential votes have to be divided. In undivided AP, P S Prakash Rao, an advocate, was elected as state bar council member from Vizianagaram and Srikakulam joint bar associations by that time Vizianagaram district was not separated from Srikakulam district.

After separation of Vizianagaram district from Srikakulam no one was elected so far from Srikakulam till Gedela Vasudeva Rao. “I am happy for my election as state bar council member as Srikakulam district gets recognition in all bar associations across the state for the first time,” said Gedela Vasudeva Rao to The Hans India. He assured to resolve issues relating to advocates.

On his election, senior advocates of Srikakulam Bar Association T Mohan Rao, T Radha Krishna, B Bhaskara Rao and V Krishna Chand expressed happiness. AP BC Advocates Association district president G Srikrishna Prasad, general secretary Ch Lakshmana Rao, vice-president A Umamaheswara Rao had also greeted him on his election.
