1,600-km-long roads will be laid in capital: Minister P Narayana

 Guntur: The state capital works are going on at high speeddue to steps taken by the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, said municipal administration minister P Narayana.

Inspectingthe construction of quarters work at Rayapudi along with Amaravati Development Corporation chairman D Lakhmi Pardhasaradhi here on Wednesday, the minister expressed satisfaction over progress in execution of works.

Stating that 1,600 kms long roads would be laid in Amaravati, Narayana said that he inspected 10 roads in the capital and reminded that Chandigarh and Gandhinagar capital works were still going on.

They were laying 320kms long trunk road and along with footpath also for walkers, the minister said the construction works of Justice city and administrative block were going on in 1,450 acres.

Narayana said the government would complete construction of 61 towers containing 4,480 quarters to be allotted to officersby December 31. Stating that road works have been completed in the layouts given to farmers,the minister said the government would call tenders for completing the remaining works.

He said the government has taken up works worth Rs48,000 crore in the state capital and added the road works in 217 kms were in various stages of construction.

The road works were delayed due to construction of other works including storm water project, underground cables, gas pipelines and greenery works in the area. 

The minister said the City Civil Court to be built in 2-lakh square metres would be completed by December-end and added the construction of Secretariat in five-towers would be completed in two years.  He said the last date for receiving tenders for construction of high court is July 25.

Stating that the Centre gave Rs1,500 crore for the construction of state capital, Narayana said it would give another Rs1,000 crore for the same.  He said the government would arrange buses to show the development works in the state capital to people after rainy season.
