Centre sanctions five industrial estates to AP
Amaravati: The Centre on Wednesday sanctioned five industrial infrastructure development projects to the state costing Rs 64.73 crore. Commissioner of Industries Siddharth Jain gave a presentation before 47th Steering Committee Meeting (SCM) of Micro & Small Enterprises – Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP) about the potential and necessity of the industrial estates in the specified areas.
The presentation before the SCM headed by secretary of MSME was successful as it led to final sanction of projects in Peddapuram, Vedayapalem, Gandrajupalli, Singarayakonda, Gajuvaka, Nellore, Chittoor, Prakasam and Visakhapatnam districts respectively, informed the Commissioner’s office in a press release. Out of these five projects, three projects are regarding upgradation of the existing industrial estates and Peddapuram and Gandrajupalliwould get new industrial estates that could result in industrial development in the respected areas.
The five projects would cost Rs 64.73 crore with three upgradation projects costing Rs 29.97 crore and two new projects costing Rs 34.76 crore. The upgradation of Vedayapalem industrial estate and new industrial estate at Gandrajupalli would cost Rs 22.02 crore and Rs 22.09 crore respectively and shall get major share of budget of five projects.
The presentation from the Commissioner of Industries on behalf of state government convinced the Central government to sanction grant for five projects at one go, which could accelerate the development of industrial infrastructure in AP.
Out of the total budget of Rs 64.73 crore, the state government has to put in major share of Rs 38.63 crore and Central government gives a grant of Rs 26.07 crore. These projects not only ensure employment, but also result in improved productivity and turnovers. The government is planning to place more projects in the coming months under this scheme.
