Mandapeta: Rich tributes were paid to Sir Arthur Cotton on his 119 death anniversary organised here at the Congress office here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, AICC member and official spokesperson of APCC, Kamana Prabhakara Rao strongly advocated for naming the multipurpose Polavaram project as Arthur Cotton project as desired by farming community in East and West Godavari districts.
It would be a fitting tribute to the legendry civil engineer who brought lakhs of acres of land into cultivation in both the East and West Godavari districts by constructing the Dowlaiswaram barrage in a span of five years between 1847 and 1852 on River Godavari. This historic structure constructed with stones, he reminded.
