Velagapudi Subba Rao remembered

Bapatla: As first chairman of Bapatla Municipal Council, Velagapudi Subba Rao, had worked hard for the development of the town. 

He transformed Bapatla village into a full-fledge town, said leaders of Forum For Better Bapatla.Subba Rao's 131st birth anniversary was celebrated on Tuesday, under the aegis of the forum.

His statue at Chandrakala Park was garlanded and rich tributes were paid to this great man.

Addressing the gathering, Forum for Better Bapatla secretary PC Sai Baba said that the latter laid strong foundation for the all-round development of the town. 

He built roads and brought electricity to the town. Sai Babu remembered that he was the founder of many institutions like Urban Bank, Rotary Club and AVV High School. 

He started an elementary school exclusively for girls. Subba Rao had donated half acre of prime land in the heart of Bapatla town and was very kind hearted, generous and magnanimous man.Subba Rao's son VV Prasad, Khan, Kondala Rao and other leaders participated.
