8-yr-old girl went into coma after attack by stray dogs in Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam: An eight- year- old girl went into coma after a pack of stray dogs attacked her while she was returning from local community public toilets in the wee hours on Thursday at Gavarapalem near Anakapalli in the district.
The victim is identified as P Mrudula and studying third class in a government school. In the morning hours, the girl went to the public toilets which are nearby and on her return to home over 15 street dogs attacked the girl and dragged her into the bushes adjacent to the road.
A private photographer after attending to function, while returning home noticed that dogs were attacking the girl and she was unconscious . He alerted the locals and the girl was shifted to NTR Hospital in an auto-rickshaw. After first aid, the doctors suggested to shift the victim to KGH, Visakhapatnam and the girl was shifted to KHG and she is undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, the locals alleged that the Municipal workers were bringing all the dogs and leaving them in their locality after conducting operations. Numerous requests to the municipal officials to solve the problem were ignored, villagers said.
B Ramu, Zonal Commissioner condemned the allegation that municipal workers were leaving dogs from other colonies. He said a tracking app was registered for municipal workers to upload the image from where the dog was picked up and while leaving the dog after the operation.
Meanwhile, In-charge Commissioner of GVMC Basanth Kumar visited the KHG and inquired about the girl's condition. The doctors informed that the girl is responding to the treatment, but still in critical condition.
