AP Mahila Congress president Sunkara Padmasri booked for cheating
Vijayawada: Police registered a cheating case against Andhra Pradesh Mahila Congress president Sunkara Padmasri following a complaint lodged by Pathan Mariambi of Atkuru village stating that Padmasri had cheated her and not given the money which was given by a local leader after the death of her son two years ago.
According to information, Mariambi’s son Pathan Sai died after accidentally falling in a water tank in Atkuru village two years ago. The boy used to go to the dairy farm to collect grass. The dairy was owned by a local leader. The woman is claiming that she had approached the Congress leader Padmasri, who is also a resident of Atkur village in Unguturu mandal to mediate with the land owner to get compensation.
Mariambi attended the Grama Darsini programme at Gannavaram on Wednesday and complained to MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi that the Mahila Congress president had cheated her and did not give Rs 1 lakh which she had collected from the dairy farm owner after the death of her son.
Mariambi alleged that Padmasri brokered the deal in which the owner gave Rs 1 lakh as compensation. But Padmasri kept the money with herself, it is alleged. Vamsi reportedly asked the woman to lodge a complaint with Atkuru police. The police registered a case and began the probe.
When contacted, Padmasri alleged the cheating case was booked at the behest of MLA Vamsi. She alleged that the MLA nursed a grudge against her because she had exposed the irregularities that took place in Neeru-Chettu scheme in Gannavaram mandal. She made it clear that she did not take money from any one and questioned as to why would she take the money belonging to a poor woman.
