Allot govt apartments to homeless: CPM
Vijayawada: CPM executive committee member Ch Babu Rao demanded here on Thursday that the apartment, which were being constructed by the municipal corporation, should be allotted to the homeless people in the city.
He led the Praja Rakshana Yatra on the fifth day at 53 and 54 divisions in the city and CPM Central Committee member V Srinivasa Rao flagged off the yatra, which was intended to protect the city from the land grabbers, sale of corporation properties and high taxes.
The members of the yatra staged a dharna in front of the apartment being constructed by the municipal corporation demanding that the homeless people should be allotted these apartments. Several people narrated their woes to the CPM leaders expressing resentment against the deputy mayor Gogula Venkataramana. They said that both the BJP and TDP have been burdening them with taxes.
The CPM leader said that the corrupt people would be thrown out of power. Flaying Central MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao for attempting to grab the land belonging to a freedom fighter, he said that the people’s representatives, including corporators, failed to solve the problems of people.
Babu Rao recalled that several development activities were undertaken when the Communists were in power in the past. He appealed the people to support the Communist party (Marixst) for solving their problems.
