Farmer attempts suicide in Pathikonda
Kurnool: A farmer attempted suicide by consuming pesticide-laced drink in front of Tahsildar’s office in Pathikonda on Wednesday. He was immediately rushed to area hospital in Pathikonda.
Later, he was shifted to government general hospital in Kurnool for better treatment. According to the available information, the victim, Kasim a resident of Pandikona village in Pathikonda Assembly constituency, is having 4 acres of agriculture land in his village. Out of the total extent, he had sold 1.9 acres of land to one Madinenni Sanjappa five months ago.
But, Sanjappa was issued pattadar passbook mentioning 4 acres instead of 1.9 acres. With the wrong entries made by the officials of the Revenue department, Kasim was known to be approaching the office for rectifying wrong entry. But, officials were ignoring his requests. Even the purchaser, Sanjappa was also not supporting him to rectify the error.
The remaining two acres of land is the only source of livelihood to the entire family consist of six persons including four daughters. Vexed with the attitude of the revenue officials and the ill-intention of the Sanjappa, Kasim came to Pathikonda Tahsildar office and took extreme step.
However, his attempt was thwarted by the fellow persons present at that time. They immediately rushed Kasim to area hospital in Pathikonda. On learning about the suicide attempt, the Pathikonda cops rushed to the hospital and recorded his statement and registered a case.
