Indian Women archers numero uno
Vijayawada: The Indian Archery team has created a history of sorts by securing first place. The World Archery Association (WAA) announced that the Indian Archery Compound Women team secured first position in the world on July 25.
The WAA further stated that the Indian team achieved fifth position in compound mixed archery. In the latest rankings announced by WAA, the Indian compound archery women team ‘Team of Golden Girls’ created a history in Indian Archery by achieving top rank in the world.
The team members are V Jyothi Surekha, Trisha Deb, P Lily Chanu, Muskan Kirar, Divya Dhayal and Madhumita. Archers from across the country appreciated the team their hard work for achieving the top place.
World Archery Association also announced the rank in compound mixed team and India bagged fifth rank in world rankings. V Surendra, father of Surekha said that Jyothi Surekha was the only player who had played in all the category matches.
He said that this was the top achievement by an Indian archer for the first time in history. In the mixed team also Jyothi Surekha showed good performance.
