Statutory Internal Panels sought at works places
Visakhapatnam: Senior Advocate and Co-Convener of Andhra Pradesh for Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Rahimunnisa met Union Minister of Women and Child Welfare Maneka Gandhi in New Delhi and gave representation on safety and security of women and children.
Rahimunnisa explained about the sexual attacks on women and on girls. She demanded for the directive from the ministry for setting up of Statutory Internal Committees at workplaces for women’s protection right from national, state and district level.
During the recent years, there is a rise in the incidents and the parents are worried about safe return of their kids to homes, she explained to the minister. The crime rate on the girl children also increasing.
The Monitoring Committees should be set up at schools, colleges and all the educational institutions to curb atrocities, crimes, sexual abuse and brutal attacks, Rahimunnisa urged the minister.
While responding on the issues, the minister also accepted the need to establish committees at educational institutions and workplaces for safeguarding the women and girl children.
