AU VC calls on Chief of Naval Staff

Visakhapatnam: On the invitation, Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University Prof G Nageswara Rao visited south block in New Delhi and met Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Sunil Lamba on Thursday, along with a team of university professors.   

Prof Nageswara Rao initiated the discussion and briefed about the defence courses being offered to Army, Navy and Airforce personnel. During the meeting it was discussed that the diploma, certificate, degree, PG and PhD courses may be pursued. 

It was also highlighted by Vice-Chancellor that Andhra University wishes to extend its services to the people who serve the nation.  Rao also admitted that if Navy personnel pursue their studies in the campus it enhances the brand image of Andhra University.

Admiral Sunil Lamba agreed to send their officers to the university to understand the requirements needed from the Navy side to sign the MoU with Andhra University. 

The admiral admitted that Indian Navy would collaborate with Andhra University on research front to initiate indigenous technology for the Navy.  Commodore Rohtash Singh, Principal Director of Naval Education, Commodore Sanjay Bhall, Naval Adviser to Chief of the Naval Staff, Brig. Mrigendra Kumar, Secretary of Kendriya Sainik Board, were present from the Navy.

Dr K Kumar Raja, Academic Senate Member and Ujjwal Kumar Ghatak, Academic Adviser, Defence Joint Education Programme from Andhra University, were present at the meeting.
