Railway cops nab 5; seize10 kg ganja at Tirupati Railway Station

Tirupati: The Government Railway Police (GRP) sleuths arrested five habitual offenders and seized 10 kilos of ganja from them on Thursday. Revealing the details to the media, GRP DSP SM Ramesh Babu said here that they were involved in at least eight robbery and smuggling cases registered at various railway police stations. On a tip-off, the offenders were nabbed when they were alighting from Tirumala Express in the early hours of Thursday and seized ganja which was in their possession.

The accused were identified as D Purushotham (30) of Rajampeta, M Satish (28) of Amburu in Tamil Nadu, Syed Basha (22) of Tirupati, A Rami Reddy of Tiruchanur and P Surya of Chengalpattu in Tamil Nadu. They have also robbed Senior Assistant Loco Pilot Raghunathan last week at B Cabin of Tirupati Railway Station and a case was filed by CI M Aseervadam. They were released from remand on July 14 in another case and involved in the robbery on July 20.
