Goddess Bhramaramba appears as Shakambari
Srisailam: Goddess Bhramarambha and other Goddesses – Raja Rajeshwari and Ankalamma, were decorated using 15 tonnes of 40 varieties of vegetables while decorating them as Shakambari.
The vegetables were donated by charitable public for decoration purposes. Later, special pujas were performed to Bharambadevi as part of the Agama Sastra. The special pujas were also performed to the processional deity of the Goddess.
Temple Executive Officer (EO) N Sriramachandra Murthy said that worshipping the deity with vegetables on Ashadha Pournami Day would eliminate natural calamities and result in plenty of rains. Several art forms, including that of deities of Ganesha, made using vegetables were displayed on the occasion.
On account of the lunar eclipse on Friday, the temples of Lord Mallikarjuna and Goddess Bhramaramba were closed down at 2 pm. Other temples of Sakshi Ganapati, Hathakeswaram, Paladhara and Panchadhara were also closed. Due to the eclipse, Nitya Kalyanam of the deity and Ekanta Seva of the Goddess have been suspended.
Routine abhishekams were performed up to 12.30 noon. Free lunch has been provided to devotees from 10 am to 1 pm on Friday because of the eclipse. Again, the doors will be opened at 4.30 am on Saturday. After purification of the temple, abhishekams and kumkum archana will be performed as usual.
