Rush at Sai Baba temples on Guru Purnima in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: On the occasion of Guru Purnima, thousands of devotees throng Sai Baba temples across the city from early morning on Friday. 

Guru Purnima also known as Vyasa Poornima was dedicated to Veda Vyasa Maharshi who penned Mahabharata. Special prayers were offered on the occasion by the temple priests to mark Guru Purnima. 

Akhanda Ksheerabhishekam was performed at the temples followed by Panchamritabhishekam.

The temples were overcrowded with devotees at Sai Baba temples near Maris Stella College, Mutyalampadu, Vidyadharapuram, Tadepalli Nulakapeta, Gollapalem Gattu and other places in the city. 

Temples were decorated with flowers and decorative lamps. The devotees chanted special prayers on the occasion. Most of the schools in the city also celebrated Guru Purnima and organised special programmes on the occasion.

Politicians and officials also visited Sai Baba Temple on the occasion and police had a tough time to control the devotees. Prasadam and Annadanam were offered to the devotees by the temple authorities after the darshan.
