Skill training for govt school girls begins at Sri City
Tirupati: A ten-day skill foundation course for the ninth standard girl students of the Balayogi Gurukul Patashala (AP Social Welfare Residential Education Institute) in Sullurupeta commenced at the Siemens Technical Skill Development Institute (SSTSDI) in Sri City on Thursday. About 50 girls are attending the course. The foundation course covers basics (including MS Office) in computers and two-wheeler mechanism.
Yogi Anvesh, Prem Swaroop, Damodar and Chenchaiah are the trainers. The state government, as part of its skill development initiatives for the school students, has sponsored these students. A similar programme is being planned for the 9th class students of Irugulam and Madanapalem high schools.
Sri City Foundation coordinates the conduct of these training courses aimed at improving skills of poor students studying in government schools. SSTSDI, which was started in May 2017 offers skill training to students from schools, ITI, polytechnic and engineering colleges in the region.
Training is also provided in Computer Aided Design (CAD), automobile engineering and welding. Till date, in all trades put together, more than 500 students received training here.
