Nellore: Nellore city MLA and YSRCP leader Dr P Anil Kumar has criticised the educational institutions of Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana for collecting exorbitant fees for Intermediate education through various packages.

Speaking to the media here on Saturday, the MLA said minimum fee for day scholars per annum is Rs 60,000 and others were being charged up to Rs 3 lakh based on the merit and package.

He said instruction should be common to all and these institutions have started segregating the students based on the merit and were collecting huge amounts from them and the Minister is supporting mafia culture in education.

“There is a corporate mafia in the state where Narayana and Sri Chaitanya Institutions are collecting lakhs of rupees from the students besides mounting pressure on them to withstand tough conditions of reading hours.

Is this kind of exploitation being a service to the state as was being said by Minister Narayana? There is a rule that the fee should not exceed Rs 2,800 for Intermediate courses.

Why the officials are not taking action against these institutions?” asked the MLA.

He said they would be lodging a complaint with the District Collector and RIO initially and approach even the court if there is no response from them.
