Atmakur in-charge post triggers unrest in TDP

Nellore: The appointment of Adala Prabhakar Reddy as in-charge of party in Atmakur Assembly constituency brought the internal rivalries to the fore with senior party leader G M Kannababu openly protesting the party’s decision. Former minister Prabhakar Reddy was recently appointed as temporary in-charge of the party in the constituency.

Minister Narayana and Prabhakar Reddy held discussions with Kanna Babu and tried to convince him. Finally, the disgruntled leader relented after two hours of talks the duo and left for Atmakur and participated in the party workers meet organised by Prabhakar Reddy at a private function hall on Monday. Prabhakar Reddy was appointed as Atmakur in-charge following resignation from the post by Anam Ramanayarana Reddy, who is planning to join YSRCP.

Former in-charge of TDP for Atmakur constituency and senior leader Kanna Babu and DCCB chairman Mettukuru Dhanunjay Reddy have been competing for the post as well as the seat in the coming Assembly elections.

Kanna Babu, who is a staunch follower of agriculture minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy had contested in 2014 elections from the same constituency and was defeated by YSRCP leader M Goutham Reddy. With the entry of Anam brothers into TDP, the party had appointed Anam Ramnarayana Reddy as in-charge for Atmakur.
