200 students donate blood at mega camp

Vijayawada: Over 200 students participated in the mega blood donation camp from various colleges across the city organised jointly by the NSS wing of Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala and Red Ribbon with the support of Red Cross blood bank here on Monday.

MLA Gadde Rammohana Rao inaugurated the blood donation camp and appreciated the college management and the NSS staff for taking initiative to organise the blood donation camp.

Principal Dr Nalini said out of all donations blood donation was a noble thing which will save one’s life. She called upon youth to cultivate a habit of donating blood regularly.

Director Dr T Vijayalakshmi said the college was organising blood donation camp every year and said that students and parents from all the colleges in the city participated in the camp and donated blood voluntarily.

Corporator Ch Sujatha said patients suffering from Thalassemia problem need blood regularly and said that Red Cross Society would send blood to those patients for blood transfusion. Corporator Ch Gandhi, Medical officer Dr T Madan Mohan, NSS programme officer Dr K Sarala, T Naga Rani and K Kavitha were present.
