Polavaram will serve drinking water, irrigation needs: Kodela
Guntur: Assembly Speaker Dr Kodela Sivaprasada Rao said that drinking water and irrigation water problem will be solved on completion of Polavaram Project. He addressed a meeting of members of the Water Users Committee of Narasaraopet and Sattenapalli Assembly constituencies on Tuesday on the occasion of their Vignana Yatra to Polavaram Project.
About 3,000 members of Water Users Committees went to Polavaram by buses to see the project works. Kodela flagged off their buses and inaugurated the Vignana Yatra. Speaking on this occasion, he pointed out that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was conducting a review on the progress of Polavaram Project works every Monday.
He said that so far 56% of the project works were completed. Remaining works are expected to be completed within a stipulated time. He said that the government will soon link rivers Godavari and Penna.
MLA G V Anjaneyulu said that the government will complete the Polavaram Project to solve irrigation and drinking water problems. He said that the Vignana Yatra will be useful to farmers. He felt that the yatra will create awareness among the water users’ committee members and its presidents.
He saidthe government was supplying Godavari water to Krishna Western Delta region through Pattiseema Project. District Collector Kona Sasidhar said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was using drones to conduct virtual inspection of Polavaram Project.
