Tardy progress of underground drainage works irks minister

Guntur: Minister for Civil Supplies Prattipati Pulla Rao expressed unhappiness over execution of underground drainage works in the city on Tuesday. He conducted a review meeting, along with Minister for Social Welfare Nakka Anand Babu, at the GMC Council Hall on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that he has already taken up th issue with Minister for Municipal Administration P Narayana and added that he will take up with the Chief Minister also. He said that the GMC has to complete manholes sewage treatment plant works and 503 km road restoration works on a priority basis. 

He instructed the contractor to submit details of the works and when they will complete the work. He said that the government has taken up underground drainage works at a cost of Rs 903 crore in the city.  He said that so far they laid pipelines in 508 km. He directed to speed up the urban housing works also. 

Minister for Social Welfare Nakka Anand Babu directed the officials to expedite the underground drainage works in the city and complete the works without inconvenience to the people.
