National Handloom Day to be celebrated in Chirala

Chirala: The National Handloom Day will be conducted in Chirala on August 7 and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will be participating in the programme, announced Prakasam District Collector Vadarevu Vinay Chand.

He inspected Chirala and surrounding villages on Tuesday to identify the suitable places for the Grama Darsini, Rachabanda programmes, helipads and a public meeting, along with the joint collector, local MLA Amanchi Krishnamohan and other officials.

The Collector and his team visited Chirala, Pandillapalli, Jandrapet and other villages and the Collector announced that the Chief Minister will come to Chirala at 10.30 am and participate in the Grama Darsini and Rachabanda programme at Pandillapalli Mandal Parishad School. 

He said that the Chief Minister will participate in the public meeting on the National Handloom Day at St Ann’s College of Engineering and Technology in the afternoon and return to Vijayawada around 5 pm. The Collector announced that they are organising an exhibition of handlooms brought from across the state and dedicate a gallery to Chirala handloom. 

Chirala MLA Amanchi Krishnamohan said that Chirala has a unique brand in the handloom industry and asked the officials to make arrangements to make the programme a grand success.
