Lecturer Anuradha donates steel plates for mid-day meal
Vijayawada: Students of Government Junior Urdu College, Wynchpet, Vijayawada, got a surprise gift from their English lecturer N Anuradha on Wednesday, the inaugural day of the implementation of Mid-day meals programme for Intermediate students.
The state government has decided to serve mid-day meals to Intermediate students studying in the Government colleges on par with the school children studying in the Government municipal and aided schools.
Anuradha of Government Urdu junior college donated 100 plates worth Rs 5,000 to the college students.
“When the government is doing so much for the welfare and development of children, it is our responsibility to do something for them,” said Anuradha.
On Wednesday, she came to knew that the students did not bring the plates from their homes to take the meals on the first day of the implementation of mid-day meal.
She has positively responded spontaneously and donated Rs 5,000 to purchase 100 steel plates for the 100 students studying in the college.
“I got inspiration from the college principal Shaik Ahmed and decided to donate the steel plates as part my contribution to the college as well as students,” she added.
The students thanked the lecturer Anuradha for the generous gesture and joyfully took the food in new plates on the first day of mid day meals.
