Mid-day meal for Intermediate students launched by MLA Gorantla Buchaiah Choudary
Rajamahendravaram: Rural MLA Gorantla Buchaiah Choudary has said that the mid-day meal scheme for Intermediate students will benefit them a lot and Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu introduced the scheme for Intermediate students across the state.
Inaugurating mid-day meals scheme in Government Junior College here on Wednesday, he said the government started the scheme here for first time in the state.
The mid-day meal scheme will benefit students, who attend the college from far off places. They need not bring lunch boxes with them.
The government issued directions to respective officials to supply quality food to the students.
A total 2,100 students of the junior college would be benefitted. He asked the principal to supervise the food supply every day. The mid-day meals would be implemented in all 1,476 junior colleges in the state.
Minister for HRD Ghanta Srinivasa Rao inaugurated the scheme in Visakhapatnam he said.
The government was extending a financial assistance of Rs 15 lakh for poor students for their higher education, he said.
The government junior college buildings were constructed 150 years ago and steps were being taken to develop the college in all aspects, the MLA averred.
Many great personalities studied in the junior college, he added.
The college principal, K Virraju, deputy educational officer Dileep Kumar, teaching and non-teaching staff was present.
