Thyagaraja music fest begins from 03 August in Tirupati
Tirupati: The three-day music festival organised by Sri Thyagaraja Utsava Committee here would begin on Friday. Brahmarshi Subhash Patri would inaugurate the music festival to be held in TTD Mahati Auditorium on Friday evening and TTD Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal would preside over the inaugural function.
The music festival would take off with the performance of violin maestro Padma Bhushan TN Krishnan followed by Ranjani Sivakumar vocal. The second day programme include vocal by Palgat Ramprasad and his team and Veena by Geeta Krishnamurthy.
On the concluding day, a ‘Sadassu’ would be held to confer ‘Sapthagiri Sangeetha Vidwanmani’ award to noted vocalist OS Thyagarajan, according to Sri Thyagaraja Utsava Committee’s Executive Chairman KV Ranganathan. In a press release, he said that the award includes 8-gram gold medal, citation and cash Rs 5,000. So far, 68 noted musicians were given this award.
Sri Thyagaraja Utsava Committee was established here in 1943 and was later registered as Thyagaraja Trust for promotion of traditional music and dance.
