NTR Vaidya Seva Awards presented

Tirupati: SVIMS Vice-Chancellor Dr TS Ravikumar has presented NTR Vaidya Seva Awards to different departments at a function held in Sri Padmavathi Auditorium in SVIMS. SVIMS won the “Best Teaching Hospital (govt)” award among all the government institutions in Andhra Pradesh and the same was presented to Dr TS Ravikumar by all the senior faculty of SVIMS.

Ravikumar has presented “Best Performing Specialty” awards to seven specialties of SVIMS in which departments of Neurosurgery & Rheumatology stood at 1st place and departments of CT-Surgery, Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Medical Oncology, and Urology stood in 2nd place.

SVIMS was presented these awards for providing exceptional health care services to the patient under Dr NTR Vaidya Seva Scheme. On this occasion, Ravikumar has announced ‘Risk adjusted Mortality Review’ to compare SVIMS performance against benchmark institutions in western countries. He remarked that hospital outcomes require risk adjustments, which are lacking in India.

Starting with Dr NTR Vaidya Seva patients, Dr Ravikumar launched development of a format comparable to ‘Hospital Standardised Mortality Ratio’ (HSMR) in western countries. A ‘Risk Adjustment Panel’ of severity of illness criteria would be tested on SVIMS patients, and it will be proposed to CEO of Dr NTR Vaidya Seva Trust for validation in its patients across state.
