Chief Minister expresses shock over demise of 12 workers in quarry
Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed shock and sorrow and deep sympathy on the demise of 12 labourers in a quarry accident in Kurnool district on Friday night. He announced an ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the kin of the deceased persons. He directed the Director General of Police, Home Minister and the Minister for Mines to immediately reach the spot and assess the situation and apprise the media of the facts.
Naidu also directed the officials concerned to take stringent action against the quarry owners and management and all others whoever are found guilty. He directed the district administration including the police and the mining officials to immediately devise an action plan to prevent recurrence of such events. He also directed Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishna Murthy and other local leaders to strongly rebut any politically motivated charges by the opposition parties or anyone else.
