Kadapa: HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao conducted a surprise inspection along with officials at the Girls Junior College near Old Collectorate here on Saturday.

It may be recalled that the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Chairman and District Judge made a surprise visit to the Girls Junior College after he received several complaints from the students and pulled up authorities over poor maintenance of the classrooms, toilets and premises of the college and submitted a report to the government.

The Minister enquired with the girl students about various issues mentioned in the report.

During the inspection, Ganta found empty liquor bottles on the premises of college and expressed anger over DEO Sailaja and college authorities as foul smell was emanating from the toilets.

The Minister spoke to higher officials and asked them to initiate departmental action against college officials for not maintening toilets, classrooms and college premises.

On the occasion, Ganta found fault with the DEO for not launching mid-day meals in the college.

Later, speaking to the media, the Minister said it was unfortunate that the government is getting bad name despite striving hard for promoting quality education in the government colleges.

Ganta warned the college authorities and officials to be responsible while discharging duties.
