Special Category Status to AP possible only through Congress: Byreddy
Atmakur: Senior Congress leader Byreddy Rajasekhar Reddy has lambasted the TDP and BJP and felt the days when people would teach a befitting lesson to them are not far way. Addressing the media here on Monday, he said that the Special Category Status (SCS) for Andhra Pradesh would be possible only through Congress. If the party command directs him, he would not hesitate to contest from Srikakulam, he said.
On TDP, BJP and YSRCP pinning the blame on Congress for division of the state, he challenged them to spell out the rationale behind giving consent letters on division of the united Andhra Pradesh. The Congress had bifurcated the state as the Telangana sentiment was strong.
The four-year honeymoon between Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi was over leading to their parting of ways, he pointed out. He sought to know why Chandrababu and YSRCP President YS Jaganmohan Reddy were silent while the BJP targeted the Dalits and minorities for attacks.
He called Amaravati as the political capital while describing Kurnool as the water capital of the state. At Kurnool public meeting, he said, Rahul Gandhi would spell out Congress policy on Siddeswaram weir project and finding a solution to backwardness of Rayalaseema. Rahul Gandhi during his visit would lay the foundation stone for the Damodaram Sanjeevaiah Memorial structure at the first Dalit CM’s native place–Peddapadu.
