Durga temple Trust Board member suspended

Vijayawada: The State government has taken the issue of silk sari missing in the Durga temple seriously and initiated action against the Trust Board member Kodela Surya Latha, who is facing allegations for her involvement in the incident.

The government suspended the board member after taking into consideration the preliminary reports.  Trust Board Chairman Y GourangaBabu issued a letter in this regard to member Kodela Surya Latha. In the letter, the chairman asked her not to attend duties until the enquiry is completed.

It may be noted that the silk sari which was presented to Goddess Durga by a devotee, was missing for the last three days. The devotees of Lalitha ParayanaMandali staged protest and questioned the gross negligence of the temple authorities in sari missing case. 

They also complained personally against Trust Board member after taking some feedback from the priests and also based on their observation. The State government ordered an inquiry into  theissue. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu enquired about the incident after discussing 
with the temple officials and Trust Board chairman YalamanchiliGourangaBabu.  

He has been instructing the officials and Trust Board members to work efficiently without giving scope for any irregularities.  Temple Trust Board Chairman Y GourangaBabu said that U Suryanarayana lodged a complaint seeking inquiry about sari  missing. Later, allegations against the Trust Board member for her involvement were surfaced and there were reports in the media in support of the allegations.  

In this connection, the Trust Board Chairman issued orders. As per the orders, the trust board member should not attend the responsibilities in the temple until the enquiry is completed, said the Trust Board chairman.
