People alerted on land transactions

Visakhapatnam: Special Chief Secretary and Chief Commissioner of Land Administration (CCLA) Anil Chandra Punetha appealed to the people to be more cautious and careful while purchasing lands in the district. Nature and whether it is prohibited or not should be duly verified before land related transaction in the district, the CCLA alerted the people.

The CCLA and SCS convened a review meeting on 22-A lands and applications disposal issues in the district on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, Anil Chandra Punetha said that endowments and Wakf lands, lands allotted to various States and Central government agencies, selling surplus lands, lands in various court disputes and litigations are objectionable in nature and they cannot be removed from 22-A lists at any cost.

“While purchasing land, people are advised to verify with revenue department, registration department, GVMC, VUDA and other connected agencies before proceeding further for the purchase of the lands. If this is followed properly, the land disputes could be avoided, and a dispute-free land record system could be established in future in the district,” Anil Chandra Punetha said.

During the meeting, he said it was observed that the disposal of 22-A applications improved. In Visakhapatnam district, Grama Sabhas were conducted between June 20 and July 5 and as a part of the campaign, the existing 22-A lists are published in the village panchayats, objections and claims for modifications in the 22-A lists are called by the revenue department.

As many as 924 petitions received related to  22-A lists in the district. Majority of the petitions were disposed and other petitions under the inquiry at various levels in the district, the CCLA said. Talking about Vizianagaram district, he said that about 343 applications received and 110 were already redressed so far. In Srikakulam district, as many as 556 applications received and 118 were redressed so far.

Compared to the entire north coastal region, the number of applications received is high in Visakhapatnam and disposal also in a similar manner, the revenue Special Chief Secretary said. Collector Pravin Kumar, Joint Collector G Srujana and DRO Chandrasekhara Reddy explained the revenue activities in the district.
