All set to make Pootarekulu enter India Book of Records

Vijayawada: The mouth-watering sweet delicacy Pootarekulu, which is already famous in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana if not in other states too, is all set to go places.

The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority wants to take the Pootarekulu to another level by making a 10-metre long delicacy to secure a place in the India Book of Records.

All is set to make the 10-metre long Pootareku at Berm Park, the Tourism office, on the banks of River Krishna on Thursday at 9 am.

Specialists from Godavari districts have been roped in by the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority to prepare the delicacy to bag the record. The Pootarekulu would be made on earthen pots in a traditional way.

Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Authority Himanshu Shukla said that the Tourism Authority is trying to bring more popularity at national and international level to the indigenous delicacy Pootarekulu.

He recalled that the Authority had already introduced Araku Bongu Biryani as the state delicacy and giving training to the Tourism chefs to finetune it.

Mukesh Kumar Meena, Secretary to the Tourism Department, would be chief guest to the function when the 10-metre long Pootarekulu is made setting the record to enter Indian Book of Records.
