MCNS opens its plant in Sri City

Tirupati: MCNS Polyurethanes India, a 50:50 joint venture of Japan’s Mitsui Chemicals and South Korea’s SKC Polyurethanes Co. Ltd. (MCNS) hosted an inauguration ceremony for its newly commissioned polyurethane system house on Wednesday in Sri City.

The founder and MD of Sri City Ravindra Sannareddy along with Chief Operating Officer of SKC Ki-Don Won, Managing Executive Officer of MCI Tadashi Yoshino and CEOs of MCNS Eui-Joon Lim and Shingo Shibata have participated in the inauguration of the plant.

Complementing the MCNS team for commissioning the plant, Ravindra Sannareddy said that it is the very first joint venture company between two major brands of Japan and South Korea, which are the leaders in manufacturing, in Sri City.

He felt that the presence of MCNS, a major conglomerate producing polyurethane, will certainly enhance the symbiotic ecosystem in Sri City, benefiting the manufacturers in those sectors.

Addressing the gathering, Eui-Joon Lim said that they always tried to serve the existing and potential customers more closely. “Even though, we are very small in the beginning, our business target in India is very big. We aim to become No.1 Polyurethane provider in the country and provide customised PU solution to the customers,” he stated.

Shingo Shibata thanked the Andhra Pradesh government for the excellent support extended and appreciated the cooperation and friendly attitude of Sri City team. The facility, which is the 11th manufacturing base of MCNS, set up in a plot of 5 acres at an investment of Rs 50 crore, will produce polyol based polyurethane foam products, with an annual capacity of 15,000 tonnes per annum. Polyurethane products are widely used in industries such as automotive, building construction, consumer durables, refrigeration, textiles & fibres etc.,
