TDP, YSRCP playing poll tactics: Congress

Update: 2018-08-09 05:30 IST

Ongole: The Congress requested the public not to fall prey to the poll tactics of the Telugu Desam Party and YSR Congress Party leaders.

The party leaders flayed the chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for laying foundations to various works after four years of rule and the U-turn by the YSR Congress president Jagan on Kapu reservations.

The district Congress president and AICC member Eda Sudhakar Reddy and Kapu Reservation Sadhikaraka Committee for the Congress chairman Pagadala Rangaswamy spoke to the media on Wednesday.

The district Congress committee paid tributes its senior leader RK Dhawan and to the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu and DMK president M Karunanidhi and offered two minutes of silence in respect of them.

Sudhakar Reddy said that Naidu was pouring love on the district after neglecting it for more than four years. He said that the reason for the sudden change in the behavior of the chief minister was nothing but the target of 2019 elections.

He alleged that the foundation for the IIIT was done after 53 months of inactivity, promising to restart Veligonda works in two days, showering sops on weavers were nothing but his preparation for the 2019 elections.

He said that the Congress party had allocated 14000 acres for NIMZ in Kanigiri and sanctioned funds in 2014 itself but the TDP government neglected it for four years.

He said that the weavers and farmers spent horrible days and committed suicides in the TDP rule before 2004 and the Congress party saved them by offering full loan waiver.

He said that the TDP government had done nothing for the university, though the Congress party allocated land for it. He said that the credit of cheating the Kapu community in the district goes to the TDP and YSRCP together.

He alleged the both parties took U-turn on the Kapu reservation and were now blaming the Central government.

He asked the parties when they expressed inability to get Kapu reservation under the Central government control, how come they get the special category status, railway zone, funds for Polavaram and even demand implementation of reorganisation act.

Rangaswamy said that the Congress party reinstated the reservation for Kapus in Damodaram Sanjeevaiah rule and they lost it again in the time.

Naidu promised reservations to Kapus and formed the government with their votes but neglected them, he alleged.

When it became compulsory to respond, Jaganmohan Reddy also demanded the government to provide reservation to Kapus and promised to provide it if he form government in future but took U-turn now, he said.

They requested the public not to believe TDP and YSRCP and said that Kapu reservations without affecting the BCs was possible with Congress only.

They asked the public to vote for the Congress and make Rahul Gandhi as prime minister for the SCS and other development activities for the state.
