Chandrababu Naidu diluted Special Category Status for mileage
Guntur: Former MP YV Subba Reddy criticised that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu diluted the Special Category Status issue for gaining political mileage. Addressing the YSRCP ‘Vanchana Pai Garjana’ meeting here on Thursday, he highlighted the misrule of TDP government and how its leaders betrayed the people of the state. The party leaders wore black shirts to register their protest at the meeting.
Addressing the gathering, he reminded that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu welcomed and accepted the special package sanctioned by the Centre. He felicitated Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu, who played a key role for sanctioning the special package, and added that when the people are demanding Special Category Status, he took U-turn and demanding Special Category Status again.
Former MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy said that Chandrababu Naidu forgotten the responsibility of safeguarding the interests of the state and reminded that the Chief Minister wrote a letter in support of state bifurcation which caused a great loss to the state.
He reminded that at the time of bifurcation, the TDP and BJP promised Polavaram, Special Category Status, railway zone, petrochemical complex, Kadapa steel plant and Dugarajapatnam port, but never bothered to fulfil any of these promises.
YSRCP official spokesperson Ambati Rambabu pointed out that before 2014 elections, Chandrababu demanded Special Category Status to the state but after coming to power, he accepted Special Package, and now ahead of elections, Chandrababu was chanting Special Category Status once again. He reiterated that Special Category Status to the state would be possible only with YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
