Medico ends life

Vijayawada: A third year MBBS student Chodavarapu Himaja, 23, of Kothapeta in the city committed suicide due to depression and personal problems. She was not able to cope up with the medicine syllabus and was unhappy with the marks she got in the supplementary examinations which were held recently. She committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling at her residence in Makinavari street, Kothapeta, on Wednesday. 

According to Two Town police, Himaja was not happy ever since she joined medicine three years ago in Siddhartha Medical College. Her father Chodavarapu Prakash is an RMP and mother Rajeswari is a teacher in a private school.

Himaja’s parents wanted their daughter to be a doctor and joined her in Siddhartha Medical College, Vijayawada, three years ago. But the medico could not cope up with the pressure and syllabus and resorted to the extreme step.

When her parents were not at home, she ended her life by hanging from the ceiling. The body was sent to the Government Hospital for post-mortem. The parents were in deep shock over the incident. Kothapeta police booked a case and began probe.
