Vizag-Kirandul train cancelled

Visakhapatnam: In view of suspected miscreant activities between Kamlur and Kirandul in Kottavalasa-Kirandul line, Train No. 58501 Visakhapatnam-Kirandul passenger train was short terminated at Kamlur on Thursday.

While returning empty rake of 58501 passenger train from Kamlur to Dantewada after the cancellation of service, the train was derailed near Kamlur 410/17-18 as the track was uprooted by miscreants near bridge location.

The locomotive and front trolley of the general second class was derailed. As the train was returning empty no causality or injury was reported in the incident.

The onboard crew and railway staff and others were evacuated through tower wagon from Dantewada to attend the emergency. Accident Relief Train from Koraput reached the site while the engineering, electrical, mechanical and Armed Forces rushed to the site and monitored the situation.

The restoration works commenced in the early hours. The entire works and trains movement is being monitored by General Manager, East Coast Railway Umesh Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair, Mukul Saran Mathur, branch officers of Waltair Division and senior officials of East Coast Railway.

Upon the derailment of the passenger train, Train No. 58501 Visakhapatnam-Kirandul passenger train will be short terminated at Jagdalpur on Friday and the Train No 58502 Kirandul-Visakhapatnam passenger rescheduled to leave Kirandul at 9 am instead of its scheduled departure at 6.15 am.
