482 motorists fined for drunken driving

Visakhapatnam: In all, a fine was imposed on 482 motorists and 30 motorists were slapped with a jail term for drunken driving by locals courts, who were caught in the drunken driving drive, which was conducted between August 8 and 10, here in the city limits. 

This is for the first time that more motorists were fined in a single week for the tipsy driving in the city. 

Police said that three motorists were slapped with 15 days jail term and a fine of Rs 1,000 each while one motorist was convicted for 10 days jail and was slapped a fine of Rs 2,000. 

ADCP (Traffic) M Ramesh Kumar said that 502 motorists were caught by police for tipsy driving in the last week while 20 of them got the jail term and the remaining motorists were fined ranging from Rs 300 to Rs 2,000.
