Constitutional status to BC Commission hailed

Kakinada:  East Godavari BC Employees Association hailed the Centre’s move to accord constitutional status to National BC Commission after 72 years of independence. Speaking to media persons at R& B guest house here on Saturday,  Employees Association president G Venkateswara Rao expressed happiness over legal sanctity to BCs on par with the SC and ST Commissions. 

This move would increase confidence among BC population, he observed and added this would also provide rights to BCs on par with SCs and STs. Venkateswara Rao demanded that any decision on BC welfare should be implemented by respective states in due clearance by BC Commission only. 

He also made it clear that reservations to the creamy layer should be considered after the implementation of 27 per cent reservations recommended by Mandal Commission to BCs. He also suggested the government should encourage entrepreneurs from BCs for improving their financial status. “We will represent the issue to PrimeMinister Narendra Modi,”he said.
