Hundi income dips to 73L

Tirupati: The Hundi collections of Lord Venkateswara temple, Tirumala, on Sunday registered Rs 73 lakh, the lowest in the recent times. The TTD attributed the lowest hundi collections to the restricted darshan timings in the shrine because of Ashtabandhan Balalaya Maha Samprokshanam being held in the temple from August 11 to 16.

Since the beginning of Maha Samprokshanam, the arrival of pilgrims has declined sharply in the hill shrine. According to temple sources, the TTD netted an income of Rs 2.49 crore on Friday, a day before the start of Maha Samprokshanam, which came down to Rs 1.47 crore on Saturday and further down to Rs 73 lakh on Sunday.
