School students take part in drawing competition

Visakhapatnam: In all, 110 students of various schools participated and exhibited their talent in  drawing competition on ‘Popularisation of remote sensing’ jointly conducted by the Department of Geo-Engineering, Andhra University and Indian Society of Remote Sensing -Visakhapatnam Chapter, here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof P Jagadeeswara Rao, Chairman of ISRS- Visakhapatnam Chapter, said that students from various schools, including St Francis School, Bethany School (Waltair), Catherine Public School (Bheemili),  Kotak School and GVMC Schools participating in the contest. 

Knowledge of prevailing situation of science education in general and space science education in particular with reference to developing countries was discussed, along with suggestions on the necessary means to improve the education programme in the frontier area of great intellectual possibilities, said Jagadeeswar Rao.

Winners will be announced on Sunday and prize will be given on National Remote Sensing Day celebrations. 

Prof G Jai Sankar (Vice-Chairman, ISRS-Visakhapatnam)-Andhra University, Prof PVV Satyanaraya (Secretary,  ISRS-Visakhapatnam Chapter)- Andhra University, Dr N Victor Babu (Treasurer,  ISRS-Visakhapatnam Chapter), Research Scholars of Geo-Engineering Department and PG/UG students participated in the event.
