Freedom 5K Run organised at NTR Municipal Corporation Stadium in Guntur

Guntur: District Collector and Guntur Municipal Corporation special officer Kona Sasidhar flagged off a Freedom 5-K Run at NTR Municipal Corporation Stadium here on Sunday. 

The run was conducted by the Guntur Municipal Corporation on the occasion of 72nd Independence Day to be held on August 15. 

Students of 2000 schools and colleges and participated in the 5-K Run and exhibited 2,222-meter-long national flag on this occasion. They sung patriotic songs on this occasion. 

Speaking on this occasion, Kona Sasidhar said that there was need for this type of programmes to promote patriotism and appreciated the students for their participation in the programme in spite of rain this morning. 

He said that there was need to draw inspiration from the freedom-fighters and rededicate ourselves for the development of the country. 

He said that the state government was constructing world class capital Amaravati and reminded that development works taken up by the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu during the last four years for the development of the state. 

Guntur Municipal Corporation Commissioner Srikesh B Lathkar said that they had conducted the 5 K Run to draw inspiration from the freedom-fighters for the development of the country. 

He reminded development works taken by the GMC to develop Guntur city. He sought cooperation of the people for the development of the city.

5-K Run which started at NTR Municipal Corporation reached Gujjanagulla Centre via Gardens, returned to the NTR Municipal Corporation Stadium via Rajendranagar.  

MLA Modugula Venugopala Reddy said that conducting this type of programmes would promote patriotism.  

Later, they distributed prizes to the students who got prizes in the 5 K Run conducted by the GMC. 

Guntur Urban SP Ch Vijaya Rao, nominated MLA Philip C Tocher, GMC officials were among those participated in the meeting.
